The Green Sofa Gallery presents a new project entitled - The
Spring in Tsar-Gorod (Istanbul).
The participants of this action
are five famous Lvivian artists – Ostap Patyk, Oleksandr Korovay,
Ivan Tvedun, Petro Smetana and Sergiy Guy.
The author and coordinator of the idea is Ostap Patyk. He was
inspired by the experience of his father, who was fascinated
by the richness and uniqueness of the ancient Turkish culture,
and considered it even more valuable than the culture of Paris.
Besides he was influenced by the memories of Oleksandr Gryshchenko,
who vividly described the years spent in Tsar Gorod.
The core of The Spring in Tsar-Gorod lies in the voyage of artists
along the 2000 kilometers non-tourist route across Turkey. On
returning they are going to present the exhibition of artistic
trophies in the Green Sofa Gallery.
The artists aim at presenting culture of the Eastern Turkey like
they felt it, and even discover absolutely new country that is
not engaged in the trading and tourist routes of our contemporaries.
The viewer will see the fishermen villages and lakes from the
Odyssey Movie, the ancient Christian memorials and unforgettable
eastern atmosphere.
A very important feature of this project is absolute creative
and financial independence of the artists – they bear all expenses
not to depend on anybody’s point of view and be completely free
in expressing their ideas. It may be regarded as a challenge
and contradiction to a well-known thought that an artist has
to be hungry to be able to create. The artists traveled comfortably
on board of a luxuries steam boat The Southern Palmyra and
stayed at 5-star hotels.
All we have to do is to enjoy the results of their creativity.
The departure time to Tsar-Gorod from Lviv is April the eighth.
The artists arrived to Lviv on the 22nd of the April. The exhibition
of the following artists is on in the Green Sofa Gallery on
the 29th of May.
